10 Steps of Korean Skincare

This post specially made for all of you guys out there who likes korean skincare a.k.a Kbeauty junkies.

There are 10 important steps in korean skincare regime. " That's a lot! " I know, but that is how they get their flawless clear glowing dewy healthy skin.

I hope this post will help you to understand all of the steps and customized them to fit what your skin needs.

STEP 1 : OIL CLEANSERS .

Oil cleanser applied to dry skin  and helps to removes makeup and other oil based product such as sunscreen or your daily foundation. There are a lot oil cleansers you can get out there, one of my favorite is the Apple Seed cleansing oil from INNISFREE.

If you not a fan of INNISFREE you can try cleansing oil from other  brands too, such as Skinfood , and Nature Republic.

STEP 2 : FOAM CLEANSER

Foam cleanser is a water based cleanser applied to wet skin and removes impurities left on skin. After double cleansing, your skin will feel clean and fresh.

My own favorite foam cleanser is the Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser from COSRX.

If you have a combination or oily skin this works wonders and because it contains salicylic acid, this cleanser is great for you if you have an acne prone skin.

STEP 3 : EXFOLIATION

Exfoliation not only clean out clogged pores, but it also help to remove dead skin cells. although it is good to exfoliate, but it is NOT RECOMMENDED for daily use. You may want to exfoliate your skin at least once a week especially if you have acne / sensitive skin. But if you have a tougher complexion, 2 to 3 times a week is good enough.

I am not using any exfoliator from korean brand because I still used my old St. Ives Apricot scrub. Maybe after i finished using the scrub I will try other from the Korean brand. Asking me what exfoliator will I choose from the korean brand line, I say the Jeju volcanic scrub from INNISFREE. Why ? because its cheap , affordable and it also smells nice.

here's a picture of the scrub if you need a reference to buy it later . haha

STEP 4 : TONER

Used to re-hydrate the skin. Toner act as a way to prep the skin , so it will absorbs the following treatment better.
There is a lot of toner you can choose from. Depend on what your skin needs.
here's a few of my recommendation

1. COSRYX Natural BHA skin returning A-sol

2. COSRY AHA/BHA Clarifying treatment Toner

3. ETUDE HOUSE Soon Jung pH 5.5 Relief Toner

STEP 5 : ESSENCE

Its a treatment product similar to serums/booster/ampoules but its more watery in consistency than the rest of the products . It comes out more like a toner.

This lettuce and cucumber watery essence provides intense moisturization for a softer , more translucent complexion.
made of 10% lettuce extract, 10% cucumber extract , and 30% cucumber water.

STEP 6 : SERUM / BOOSTER/ AMPOULE

this step is not necessary for everyone. these kind of products are formulated with active ingredients that target specific needs of your skin. Such as fine lines or hyperpigmentations. If you do not have brown spot or pigmentation you don't really need one.

STEP 7 : MASK

the purpose of mask is depends on what your skin needs. this is not an every night must do routine. Two to three times a week is enough.

You can choose either sheet mask or peel off mask or the volcanic mask, whichever your skin needs.

STEP 8 : EYE CREAM

the skin around your eyes is thinner and easily dehydrated, so it should be treated with cream specifically formulated to protect, nourish, brighten or de-puff your eyes.
Depending on the type of eye cream you choose, it could focus on everything from fine lines to dark circles.

STEP 9 : MOISTURIZER

A moisturizer will lock in all the treatments that you have applied earlier.

As for moisturizer i like this one from Nature Republic . Its does not feel tacky on your skin and it smells nice . You can get this from any Korean store available or you can purchase it online.

STEP 10 : SPF

every morning, finish off your skincare regime with either a sunscreen / BB cream / or any foundation that includes SPF.

so thats it. 10 step of korean skincare. This post is made through references from other kbeauty junkies all around the world.

I hope this will help you guys to start your korean skincare routine. Last but not least, make sure you choose a suitable product for your skin and make some research too to make sure your type skin.
